ALL HAZARD RECEIPT FACILITY

Designed in cooperation with Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center (ECBC), the All Hazard Receipt Facility (AHRF) includes the capability to in-process and prescreen unknown samples of various matrices for chemical, biological, and radiological hazards. The AHRF protects forensic evidence and meets the dual needs of public health and the requirements of law enforcement. It protects laboratory workers, the facilities and the environment from contamination. The technology includes two work areas: (1) a sample receipt area designed to BSL-2 and (2) a high containment sample screening area designed to BSL-3 and capable of assessing neat chemical warfare materials. In addition to the critical design features, the concept includes redundant ventilation controls and electrical systems to ensure that containment of unknowns is maintained at all times. Germfree and the US Army ECBC signed a licensing agreement allowing Germfree to market these technologies to facilities such as State Public Health Laboratories.
