Endorsements and Quotes
| Just wanted to drop you a note of endorsement on GERMFREE's
barrier biohazard hood product line. We purchased two LFGI-4SSRX
and one LFGI-3SSRX models in April 2004. The two 4 foot hoods we
made positive pressure, one for general IV preparation and in the
other we installed a Baxter Automix Compounder that we use for TPN
preparation. The 3 foot hood we made negative pressure, vented to
the outside and utilized for chemotherapy compounding.
We have owned other GERMFREE hoods in the past as well as other
brands and I can tell you that in my experience the GERMFREE product
line is a superior product in regards to construction and service.
The stainless steel construction is far superior to other manufacturing
materials - it does not rust!
Yes, it was an adjustment for us to work in a glovebox, but the
adjustment has been made with little problems. Factors that we considered
in our evaluation as to a direction to go to comply with USP <797>
regulations included: space requirements, reconstruction costs (flooring,
ceiling, walls, air controls), workflow, ancillary supplies, and
negative air [pressure] needs. We determined that use of barrier
isolation hoods would be the best business and operational decision
for our hospital.
After only about four weeks of utilization all our pharmacist and
technician concerns regarding use of the barrier isolation hoods
have either not developed or acceptable workarounds have been developed.
I have asked the question of them several times which system would
they prefer to work under - barrier isolation or clean room? Given
our workflow and volumes (we can't assign dedicated personnel just
to do IV preparation - they must multitask) the answer has always
been that they are very satisfied with the barrier isolation hood
approach and do not want to pursue a separate positive pressure clean room.
I would give GERMFREE an A+ for their product and service.
Thanks,

I bought my GERMFREE glovebox in May of 2002. I had recently
attended an aseptic techniques course and was made aware of the
upcoming new USP guidelines; the glove box option was the best choice
for my practice setting to help me meet the new standards. The convenience
factor is the biggest advantage. We are able to start a project
in the box and walk away if needed without concern of contamination;
we don't have to buy disposable garments to use the glove box, and
the cleaning takes much less time than it takes to clean a "clean
room".
I researched several other containment hood vendors before deciding
on GERMFREE. I liked the fact that this hood uses stainless steel
construction and that both the intake and exhaust are filtered.
In my opinion, GERMFREE offers the best value for the money.

I've been dealing with GERMFREE since the start of CAPS division
in 1989.
Since then we have purchased over 200 Class 100 workstations and
Bio Safety Cabinets. I have been very satisfied not only with the
quality of the products but with the customer service from all of
the employees that I deal with. GERMFREE stands behind their product
and goes out of the way to ensure that the customer is satisfied
with their purchase. GERMFREE is also the only company in their
field that is willing to customize their products to meet their
customer's needs, and have done so in our case many times over the years.
Please feel free to let any prospective customers know that they
can contact me to vouch for GERMFREE's service.

We have found our GERMFREE Laminar Flow Glovebox/Isolator to
be very easy to use and, more importantly, easy to clean. It's just
the right size and fits well in our small pharmacy. Compared to
the more expensive, bulkier models made by another company, ours
is state of the art! Even the inspector that tests the pressure
and airflow of our LFGI has commented on how well built and convenient
ours is.

We purchased our GERMFREE laminar flow glovebox isolator unit
(LFGI 4SS-RX) in February of 2003. After comparing the costs of
constructing and maintaining a cleanroom and laminar flow hood with
the cost of an isolator, it was clear that the isolator unit was
the only option. Cost was not the only factor however. The revisions
to USP chapter 797 were just beginning and it was apparent that
we would need to comply with these new requirements. The isolators
from germfree were already designed to meet the new requirements
in Chapter 797 even before they were officially published. As in
many pharmacies, space was also an issue. To construct a cleanroom,
we would have had to dedicate at least 150 square feet to that project.
The isolator unit we purchased has a footprint of only 15 square
feet.
Since purchasing our unit, it has passed every semi-annual certification,
with the exception of a recent exhaust filter leak, and has worked
flawlessly from day one. We are pleased with the customer service
from GERMFREE and would definitely look to them for future equipment
needs.

We purchased three glove box isolators from GERMFREE Labs approximately
2 years ago. We have found these stainless steel gloveboxes easy
to clean, and the interchangeable glove sleeves an improvement over
previous models. The adjustable stands on rollers are ideal for
changing from stool to standing height for our IV technicians. The
GERMFREE gloveboxes have been found to maintain their sterility
(particle counts) exceptionally without adjustment during our two
year history of having them in our 800 bed hospital system.

The Barrier-Isolator that we purchased during the summer months
of 2003 has worked well in our department. We were able to meet
the requirements that we had at the time, and have been able to
do so since with this product. It has helped us comply with the
USP <797> regulations as well as with the new NIOSH guidelines.
In spite of the initial problems of learning how to work with a completely new and
different piece of equipment, we are satisified with it.
Thanks for your help and support.
