GERMFREE was founded in 1962. From its inception, GERMFREE's primary objective has been to manufacture biological safety equipment for the scientific research and healthcare fields.

GERMFREE's custom and high containment applications division (formerly known as Purified microEnvironments) was created specifically to supply the air filtration and purification technology needed for today's high-tech industrial manufacturing sectors. Through extensive R & D, the company has created products that meet the highest laboratory and cleanroom standards.

In 2005, it was announced that both divisions would be known jointly as GERMFREE. This move was made to strengthen the brand name as well as reinforce to our hospital customers that they are receiving the same level of technology used by the US military.

GERMFREE systems have been purchased by more than 5,000 institutions and companies in the U.S. and 60 other countries worldwide. Our equipment has even gone in space.
